Women’s health workshop: pregnancy and postnatal body care

A discussion circle on pregnancy, the postnatal period and pelvic floor rehabilitation, during Bobigny’s South Asian Cultures Week.

As part of the South Asian Cultures Week organised by the City of Bobigny (18–25 April 2026), Arokiyam pour toustes held an awareness workshop on the health of South Asian and Tamil women.

Designed as a space to talk and understand, the workshop covered:

  • the anatomy of pregnancy;
  • the changes pregnancy brings to the body, especially for South Asian women;
  • why pelvic floor rehabilitation matters.

It also brought together first and second generations of the same community. Led by Anamiga Joseph (intercultural mediator), Gajani Paramanathan (nurse) and Tharsiga Ledsumanan (osteopath and Ayurvedic massage therapist). Organised by Thulaciga Yoganathan, Soubattra Danasségarane and Nirusha Natkunarajah.

“The conversations between women of different generations, health professionals, carers, illness survivors and intercultural mediators were so informative and moving — we want more!”
